Unfortunately, it took me far too long to get this blog in action. So, I have to make up for lost time and quickly update you on the first three months of pregnancy. Right now I am just entering my 18th week... flying by already.
To summarize the first trimester, I can think of a few words... tiredness, snacks, excitement, anxiety and vomiting! You guessed it, I didn't have the easiest first few months. About week 7 the all-day sickness started. Whoever coined the phrase "morning sickness" should be taken out back and .... I would start to feel sick in the morning and would have to immediately sit down when I got out of the shower. Then things got worse, I was throwing up almost after every meal. That's when Zofran (nausea medication) and I became good friends.
This point of the story is when Dan became future father-of-the-year. Every day, he would get up first make me toast and bring me my medicine, toast and water. I ate and then stayed in bed for about 20 minutes. Then I was able to get up and get the day started. By about late afternoon, I would start feeling bad again but I just took it easy and it would pass.
Unfortunately, at about 9 or 10 weeks we had a little scare. My placenta was not attaching properly and this caused a tear. For about a month, I had to get injections of progesterone and was forced to rest. No working out for starters. So far, that has been the hardest month on me. I know it is important to do whatever it takes to keep the baby safe and healthy but it was hard to just sit around for a month. So, a month ago I was very relieved to get word from my doctor that the tear had healed and I could resume normal activity. And, no more injections!
Other than that I've just been watching my belly grow. Sometimes I wear my regular jeans (unbuttoned of course) and other times the maternity ones are just much more comfortable. It is strange to see my stomach beginning to look like it has a ball inside of it - causing it to stick out. Haven't felt any movement yet but very very excited for that day!
Thanks to some great friends who have loaned me clothes... you're the best and saving our budget!
Our 20-week ultrasound is scheduled for December 10th. But sorry for those of you hoping to buy us either blue or pink... we are going to be surprised!
Sorry for the long post but I wanted to get things current.
